Abstract
Purpose: To research and analyze the job satisfaction and to suggest the development plan based on general characteristics and working fields of physical therapists at public health centers in the Seoul Metropolitan.

Methods: We circulated 51 questionnaires for physical therapists who were working in the 4 affiliated hospitals with Seoul Metropolis, 25 public health centers and health branches in 2010.

Results: The results were as follows; 1) Older, more educated, and more experienced physical therapists at public institutions worked as a physical therapist. 2) Among several working fields, the biggest number of physical therapists worked at the department of thermotherapy, electrotherapy. The biggest number of patients was senile over 65 years old. The number of patients per a day was 20-29. 3) As for job satisfaction, participants were satisfied with occupational dignity and displaying ability and skill whereas they were not satisfied with a low opportunity of promotion and transference from temporary to permanent worker. 4) Because only 1 physical therapist was arranged in public health centers, it is difficult to have an opportunity to take an education and to go a personal vacation in time.

Conclusion: According to the results, patients who take physical therapy have been increasing Therefore, staff reinforcement and transference from temporary working position to permanent position is prerequisite for job satisfaction and it may result in the improvement of physical therapy service in public medical institute.
